Terms of Service

Plain language, no dark patterns. Using ReduceSize Online means you accept these terms. Last updated: October 2026.

1. The service

ReduceSize Online (reducesizeonline.com) provides free, browser-based file processing tools for images and PDFs. All processing happens locally on your device; we operate no upload or storage service. The tools are provided as-is, in both dark and light themes and on modern browsers.

2. Honest results — and no guarantees

Our result cards report measured outcomes: whether a stated byte target was met (“Target met”), the best achievable size with the stated reason when it was not (“Best effort”), or that a file needed no change (“No gain”). We deliberately do not promise that every target will be met or that quality loss never occurs — real compression involves trade-offs, and we tell you which one was made. Result states are informational, not warranties.

3. Acceptable use

Use the tools for lawful purposes only. You must have the right to process whatever files you load — your own documents, images you own or are licensed to edit, and documents a holder has given you access to (including removing a password from a PDF you are authorised to access, such as your own bank statements). Automated abuse, attempts to disrupt the site, or use of the tools to break protection on files you are not authorised to access are not permitted.

4. Your responsibilities

Check your result before relying on it — especially for official submissions, where you own the outcome. Keep your originals; compressed or edited outputs are new files, and the originals are never modified. For PDF protection: retain passwords you set, because they cannot be recovered by anyone (including us) — encryption keys exist only in your session and the output file.

5. Intellectual property

The site’s design, text, brand and code are the property of its authors. Your files remain yours — we never acquire any rights in them, since we never have access to them. You may reference and link to the tools freely; scraping the interface into a competing product removes the honesty from its context and is not licensed.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, and its operators are not liable for indirect or consequential damages (including rejected applications, missed deadlines or degraded quality in downstream use). You are responsible for verifying outputs meet the requirements of whatever you submit them to.

7. Changes and contact

These terms may be updated as the service evolves; material changes will be dated on this page. Questions about the terms are welcome — reach us at legal@reducesizeonline.com, or use the contact page.

8. Privacy

The way this service handles data is set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. In short: files are processed in your browser and never reach us.
